The A.M.S. Cards

[College Campus]

History

These postcards are marked A.M.S. and printed in Germany. The postally used examples I have date between 1909 and 1920 (not counting a 1985 mailing). The distinguishing characteristics of cards in this series are the titles, and the odd coloring. The titles are printed in red, they don't mention Mount Holyoke, and the town name is all in capital letters.

#4322 - College Campus

back Divided back, postmarked Jan 30[?] 1985 in Boston, MA. (but the postcard itself was an antique at the time; I've seen another postally used in 1913.) A. M. S. #4322 "Dear Charlotte, Thanks for the letter. Speaking of tapes, I have the harmonic choir for you, I'll mail it when I get the chance. I started writing on this postcard last summer, but I never finished. What do you think? Is that tree still there? I may come down this weekend. What do you think? I want you to come visit soon - I need you to help me paint a picture on my wall. I wish I was the one to take all of those Art classes in High School. Take care, Love, David"

#4328 - Monument Square
front "Monument Square, South Hadley, Mass." Inscribed on front: "This is Mrs. Macks old home" (The square is someone's home??)
back Divided back, postmarked Oct 3, 1909 6pm in Winchester, Mass. A. M. S. #4328 Printed in Germany. "Winchester Mass. Dear Friend:- Your card recieved [sic] So glad to get it. Am just getting around on crutches. It's awful. The plaster cast is still in. Suppose you girls are planning for next Summer. Hope you will still come this way. Lovingly Mrs. Luz. #21 Stine Ave."
