The Julia Hyde Letters

History

These letters were written by Julia Hyde 1842 to her family while she was at the Seminary. She had several sisters who also attended the Seminary. They are mentioned in her letters, and one of these letters is addressed to her sister Adeline.

envelope The letter is folded and addressed on an exposed portion of the paper. Postmarked Mar 17 [1838] in South Hadley. A dealer penciled in a notation about the postmark: "No year date / Period of 1838 & 35" Julia was listed as a student in the 1837-1838 catalog, and I have also noted that this postmark is distinctively 1838 when compared to other dated letters I have in my collection.
