Sunday

Dear Mom & Dad,

Sorry I waited so long before writing. Things have [been] rolling along at a pretty fast clip around here. I'm through with blue books except for art which is Wednesday. Edgie is at Princeton this week-end with a guy from home so I've gotten a lot done.

As things stand now, I'll be taking the train home Friday. I change to the Empire State in Albany & it gets in to Syracuse about 2:26. This means leaving here quite early but it also means saving about $8 over flying. I also sort of panic at the thought of missing the trip because of snow. I had a chance to go in on a taxi with some kids going to Cornell, but they weren't too sure about cost or any of the details & I figured [the] train was a little more certain. Also - it would be an awfully long, hard ride packed in a taxi.

There was great discontent around here the day after elections. Too bad Ives lost. One of the juniors on the floor is a "Poli Sci" (?) major, & through her, 4 of us spent election day afternoon doing some last minute campaigning for the Repub. candidate for Governor's Councilor in this district. It was lots of fun & afterwards they took us to city Hall & explained in detail all about counting votes. They don't have voting machines here - it's all by write-in ballots, & was very interesting.

Tonight there is a Communion Service & I'm singing in the combined choir. I haven't got a choir robe yet, we have to buy our own, so I'll be borrowing.

Tomorrow we have a class meeting & I have to present a budget for the year. We're having an executive meeting tomorrow A.M. at 7:10 for breakfast. That's the only time we could all get together. Thursday I went in to Holyoke & opened a bank account for the Class of '58 & Friday the Junior class officers took us out to lunch at C.I. [College Inn]

Thursday night I had dinner with Betse Cannon & we all decided (Jeannie Romig too) to go in on a "Family Plan Ticket" for the train ride home at Thanksgiving. I guess it saves a few dollars so I'm all for it. They say that once the initial expenses are over, college life isn't too expensive; However, it seems every time I turn around, someone wants money. The latest is College Chest (like community chest). They said they would like each student to give $10. Big joke!!!

I made $.45 waiting in the private dining room Wed. night & that's not a bad deal. I'm still doing a little ironing for Genie Coman occasionally.

Time for church so I'll quit.
See you Friday.
Love,
Liz

P.S. How would it be if I invited Penny for dinner Friday night? I don't know what he has planned or when but I'll write & ask him.

P.P.S Beautiful weather this weekend. Rained all week, but no snow yet. Keep your fingers crossed for next week.
