A Letter Written on Dec 8, 1954

12/8/54
Wednesday night

Hi everybody,

I've decided that maybe this form letter idea isn't too bad so one copy of this goes to 235 Dartmouth Street and one to 107 Columbia Avenue. The source theme was handed in this morning at 9:10 A.M. E.S.T. What a relief! I've done nothing else since I came back from vacation so now I have to catch up on all that was neglected, but, It's done! All 16 pages of it.

We had a really great time at R.P.I. on Saturday. All the dates were freshmen, it was an ATO rush party, and everyone of them was great. My date was from Ithaca, of all places (I seem to be having a run on that town lately) and was lots of fun. R.P.I. won the hockey game. It's nothing like professional hockey, Dad, No fights! I'd love to go to Troy again some time. I've decided that the Ivy Leaguers are too wrapped up in themselves (Amherst included) and the place to go is someplace like R.P.I. where everyone is terrific.

As for the dance this Saturday, you may be interested to know that I have a blind date from Amherst. Just got it last night in fact. I know nothing about him, but the fellow who fixed me up (he's going with one of the freshmen on the floor) is very nice so I think it should be fun. Also he's not staying overnight so that will save me some money. Steve Alven's friend wanted to come down but he has a big exam at the beginning of next week and didn't think he could spare the time. He'll be down with Steve again sometime, though.

EXTRA! NANCY HOLTON IS PINNED!

It happened last weekend. Some guy from Dartmouth who she's only been out with onc twice. It doesn't sound like her. Better not say anything to Mrs. H. until she tells you herself.

About Christmas, Edgie and I want to go skiing during mid-semesters. We don't know yet when our exams will be but will know before vacation. Outing Club is having several ski trips during that time that should be less expensive than going alone and also more fun. I can find out all the details before I come home and tell you. It really would be rather silly to come all the way home because they start soon after we come back (the 19th of January to be exact) and another thing, we haven't seen more than five flakes of snow since we've been here except for some we saw at Troy and part of the way back. But don't get excited, I'll find out everything and let you know when I get home. Also the "V-8's, the college singing group is putting out a record that I'd like to have. $3.50 and I can order it before vacation if you let me know. Also I could use a pair of leather mittens for skiing (for the tow) again. I'll think of other things, though so don't worry.

Nancy Holton said d something about taking the bus home next week. I guess it only costs a little over $5 from Holyoke and if we left at 3 we would arrive in Syracuse about 11. Will find the details and let you know how we are arriving before Wed. Thurs. I'd love to go to that luncheon in Rochester. Only one other invitation so far - Peggy Ayars, Bill Ayars, Tom Brett, Ronnie Dawson, Margot Doust, Sibyl McCormac, Dean Mc., and Bob Tuck all are having a punch party the 21st. Also I could go to R. with the money I saved coming home. Don't think there's not a method to mya madness!

Guess that's about it for the Mount Holyoke News service for now. See you next Thursday.

Love,
Liz

P.S. Got a whole lot of scholarship blanks for next year. Due Jan. 10th. I'll bring them home so be prepared!

Tom - If I get home Dec. 16 will I be able to see any Central games? Hope so. Good luck!
