Dear Mom and Dad,

Sorry I didn't write before this but I have been quite busy. I've had faculty table this week so that meant being in the dining room at 7:25 in the morning. Miss Rowe is terribly fussy and it seems as if I never do anything right. Oh, well, it will be over Sunday and I guess I can stand it until then.

Monday was Mountain Day. That is - the bell rings at eight o'clock in the morning and we have no classes for the day. Edgie and I went on the trip with the Outing Club along the Holyoke Range. We climbed about six miles along the mountains between Amherst and Mount Holyoke which is three miles north of here. We then walked back from Mount Holyoke which is another three miles so you can imagine how we felt when we returned. My legs still ache from all that climbing but we had a wonderful time and the view from the top was well worth it. I took quite a few pictures along the way too.

The Bermuda Skirt arrived Wednesday afternoon and I wore it today. I had more compliments on it. It fits perfectly too.

I heard from Penny today. He has two exams on the 23rd so can't make the dance. I don't know what I'll do now because I don't really want to ask Tom Metcalf. He called me Wednesday and we are going to the movies Saturday night in Amherst. Just after he called Jeannie Romig came in and said Steve Alven is coming down from Dartmouth Sat. with a couple of friends and wanted me to go out with one of them. I was really burned! I guess Steve wanted me to meet this one fellow from Colorado so Jeannie has thought up more ways to get us together. We shall see. At any rate, I'm going out with Tom that night.

The latest is - I've got myself a job. One of the juniors down the hall just hates to iron blouses so I am doing them for her at 15¢ a blouse. Not bad as I made 75¢ yesterday and it doesn't take too long.

I signed up for the concert series and for a yearbook. I ordered $5.50 seats and although I don't know exactly where they'll be, I specified left balcony, not too far up.

I went to a meeting for would-be reporters for the News this afternoon. We have to write two articles and the freshman members of the staff are chosen on the basis of that.

Those two samples of material that you sent weren't as good as the first. It needs to be a real green. Aunt Hattie said she would send us some simple directions. We have rearanged [sic] the room and it really looks good. Edgie's bed is in the same place but mine is along the wall. This gives us lots more room. We put up some of the travel posters and they add lots of color.

I handed in my second composition for English class on Wed. He criticized my first one for poor organization so this one was made from an outline and the works. We shall see how he likes it.

Please pardon the mistakes. I'm in a hurry as we're not supposed to type after 11 and it is almost that now.

The college phone number is Holyoke 8211 and our dorm number is 345 but you probably can reach me easier if you call on the outside phone which is right by our door. That number is Holyoke 9034. I'll include a copy of my schedule.

So much for now. Write soon.

Love,
Liz

P.S.
Tom -
That band sounds as if it's really going to town. Good going & keep it up. I hope I can hear you when I'm home.

P.P.S.
I've been invited to after-dinner coffee at the home of the Academic Dean next Tuesday evening. Good thing I like coffee.
