A Letter Written around Mar 15, 1955

Dear Mom and Dad,

Good news! Got the enclosed letter from Camp Chateaugay the other day. [no longer with the letter] However, I don't think I'll answer it until I get home. I was quite surprised to hear from him so soon and he sounds quite anxious to have me up there this summer.

Glad to hear C.H.S. did so well in basketball and sorry Tommy couldn't play in the big game. Congratulations to them all. Also the Paris trip sure sounds great. I wish I were going along. Will we be driving down to New York to meet him or does he go with the group? Also - does he come back on the Castel Felice too?

Sent A.F.S. a check for $2.

I was expecting to have an easy week before vacation as there didn't seem to be any blue books in the offing but they foxed us up in art and announced one on Renaissance art for next Wednesday morning, the day we go home. A rather dirty trick! However, I am up to date in everything else so it won't be so bad. I even got a chance to finish up those Bermudas that I started over Christmas. They don't look too bad.

We have a class meeting this afternoon - presidential candidates give speeches and we start ratifying our constitution. I also have to go to an English lecture - one of the women in the English department is reading from James Joyce. We have appointments with our advisors right after vacation. Probably to find out what we want to take next year and also to find out our mid-semester marks.

I've been appointed to the job of co-head of publicity for Outing Club for next year. I must have done a good job on Song Contest publicity. I don't think it will be a bad job and it means that I'll be on Outing Club Board which just might be interesting. Edgy was elected head of Skating for next year and Jo Prescott is head of Canoeing. One of the other freshmen is head of Inter-dorm Sports so Wilder will be well represented on A.A. Board.

The "rooming-bug" is going around although we don't have to be settled on roomates [sic] for next year until after Spring Vacation. Edgy and I have decided not to room together next year - not because we don't get along wonderfully but merely because we would like to get to know more people. Edgy and Donna Vroman are rooming together but I am going to sort of wait and think it over rather than rushing into anything. It's usually a big mess because when you're sophomores, you usually can't move in groups of more than four or so unless you're extremely lucky and draw a very low number.

Edgy's brother is coming up again this weekend to take us skiing for sort of a last fling. If the weather stays as warm as it is now, we may have to go quite a ways to find any snow and in that case would probably go for the weekend. So if you get a phone call from Holyoke later in the week, it will be because I need permission for overnight. I'll let you know our plans definitely.

Time for that English lecture. Be seeing you next week. There doesn't seem to be any chance of a ride home. Amherst gets through this Saturday so Dick Dirks is out of the question. Nan Holton and I may take the bus or maybe I'll take the train. Anyway, I'll let you know definitely.

Love,
Liz

P.S. Got a "2" on the makeup math blue book.

Can't remember if I told you. Joyce's father is being married April 2nd instead of June. Also - she was accepted at R.I.T.

Love,
Liz
