A Letter Written on Dec 10, 1955

Saturday

Dear Folks,

Well, the seige [sic] is over and I survived! I'm afraid I didn't do justice to everything but I think I did the best I could under the circumstances. Added to the load of three blue books and a paper was a 5 page German paper (auf Deutsch) on the book we have been spending the semester reading. Also my history was this Friday, instead of last so I had only one evening to study for it and it wasn't good. But I managed to live through it and today after a little relaxation and the first good night's sleep in ages, I can again say with conviction that I'm glad I'm here!

The vacation was really lots of fun and I'm so glad I had the tea. That's about the only way I could have introduced Irene to so many people.

Tonight is Holly Hop and I'm having more fun sitting bells and talking to everyone's dates. I would have liked to go if there had been anyone at Amherst I could have asked but after this week I couldn't have a date here for the whole weekend.

Got a letter from Dick yesterday, inviting me up to Dartmouth for Winter Carnival and naturally I'm excited as that's always been my dream. It's not until Fe. the first weekend of, I think.

We get out for Christmas next Friday but since Amherst doesn't get out until Saturday, there's no chance of a ride home. Mary Rintoul has invited Nancy Maxwell and I [sic] to her house for lunch and so we will pick up the 1:50 in Springfield, arriving, Syracuse at the usual time - around 8:30 as I remember.

Went ahead with plans on an English comp course and as of next semester will be taking Description instead of German. I'm going to miss German but Miss Horner, my advisor agreed that this was the semester to experiment in the English line, rather than wait until junior year. I thought of keeping German on as a sixth subject but have been having such a struggle with what I have now without adding a course like description which will probably mean at least one, maybe two, papers a week.

Time's a-wasting and I should read Shakespeare - Henry IV. Be seeing you next Friday.

Love,
Liz

P.S.
Sent scholarship blanks along just in case you wanted to get a start on them. Will answer invitation - don't worry. Haven't received any others.

They wouldn't fit so I'll bring them when I come - just like last year's.
