A Letter Written on May 6, 1956

Sunday

Dear Mom & Dad,

The box of clothes arrived Friday but from the weather we've been having I won't be needing them. However my green print skirt danced in the maypole dance Saturday afternoon.

Parents' Day was fine - the sophomores came in last in the canoe meet but yours truly & partner won the tandem event. In fact we came within .4 second of tying the record. Our crew didn't do so well - one of our members hurt her back & we raced with a substitute who had never practiced with us. But it was fun. The Rintouls' send their love.

Had a great time at Yale. Met a very nice senior who, much to my surprised called yesterday & invited me down to College Weekend which is next weekend. But I had already made plans to go on an IOCA canoe trip to Lake George with MHOC & hated to miss that. He also mentioned a skiing trip to Tuckerman's Ravine on Mt. Washington sometime during exams but they haven't made definite plans yet. Skiing in June! That should be quite an experience!

My exam schedule is much better than last semester's. Two exams on the last day this time and the other two spread out. No exam in description which is nice.

Less than two weeks of classes left & I can't believe it! No more blue books & only three papers & four exams & then summer's here! Haven't heard anything from Aaron but guess I'm all set there.

Glee club auditions are this week. I try out Thursday night so wish me luck!

Had a letter from Aunt Hat & five dollars for a birthday present. That will go towards the blazer which costs $21.95 - wait till you see them - they're beautiful Can't wait until ours arrive.

Spring finally arrived but too late for the campus to be as pretty as it was last Parents' Day. We've had forsythia in our room all week which we stole 'one dark night' from the bushes behind Mead & you have no idea how much it cheers up the room.

Have history reading to do so - see you soon.

Love,
Liz

P.S. Told Aunt Hat you'd send this on as I didn't make a carbon copy.

Love to all -

[on a separate sheet of Class of 1958 stationery, which is different paper from the first part of the letter:]

Forgot to include invitation after all.

Also - think I will return to Chateaugay but might not write Aaron 'till I get home.

We get to rub shoulders with royalty tomorrow night - we're waiting on ΦΒΚ dinner.

In case you're confused, read the other letter first.

Love to all -
Me
