Camp Chateaugay
Merrill, N.Y.

Sunday

Dear Mom & Dad,

Sorry I haven't written before this but I've been very busy since you were last here. Mankind day was last Monday & preparation for that took an awfully long time. Our kids did the history of art & I've inclosed a copy of the script & way it was presented. I think it went off quite well & everyone enjoyed it. The kids did research for the four topics & I did most of the writing & intergrating [sic]. It was most interesting. Glad I had that MHC art course.

Wednesday we climbed Lyon Mountain & Averill - a good stiff climb, Thursday was my day off - I slept, sailed & relaxed & Dick came up from Massena that night. Friday & yesterday we were on a canoe overnight. Slept at Tanager Lodge & saw Ellie Cressey & Nancy Maxwell. They're both having fabulous summers & Ellie's pinned to a guy from Hamilton.

Today is my day off again. Six of us are spending the day at the Roses' home in Chateaugay. I've never seen such a beautiful home - an old, old house which they did over a couple of years ago. It's decorated in a modern fashion & of course the living room is lined with books & records. The day, so far, has been spent reading, playing bridge, sanding down my guitar and drinking gin & orange juice. Relaxing completely which is what we all needed.

Andy Goldman just walked in. He stopped on his way to Montreal & the Cape. What a surprise.

About coming home - I can have a ride with Martin Engle the day camp closes. But - some of the kids are going climbing in the Great Range for about 5 days after camp. What would you think if I went along? Or would you rather I came right home? Perhaps that would be better all around. Let me know.

Glad the kids made it O.K. & sorry I didn't let you know before when they were coming.

Love,
Liz

P.S.
Can you send this on to Aunt Hat again?
