A Letter Written on Apr 17, 1957

Wednesday

Dear Mom and Dad,

There are about ten minutes before the lecture starts tonight so I'll dash this off. Your letter came today. See if you can find out what's wrong with Irene. Do you have the Müller's new address in Berlin?

Been working like a dog! Except for Sunday when I went to church in the morning and to a chamber music concert at Smith at night with Les, I've worked every minute! Saw May Nutting at Smith.

Room choosing is all over for our class. I'm in South Mandelle - way up on the hill - with Mel Comstock. Lee and five other kids - none of them in Buckland this year. Very happy to be there and with these people.

Went shopping this afternoon and in five minutes found a sweater - just the kind I wanted. There was a showing of some store in Providence.

We had yearbook pictures taken last week and my proofs came today. I'm really excited because they're awfully good. I usually don't take too good a picture but everyone agrees that mine came out just about the best of any. I'd like to have some made up but they're so darn expensive. How does 3 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 and 12 wallet size for $17.95 sound? That's about the only decent offer - at least the sort of thing I could use. We had them taken with white blouses figuring they would be good for job applications, etc. I still haven't decided which one to use - there are several good ones - both serious and smiling.

Glad to hear about Tom and the speech contest. Anything from Colgate yet? Have fun at all the weddings. About the skirt, I think the length of that is all right. And I'd like to start wearing it any time now. The last few days have been beautiful and there are many people around here sporting great sunburns. We have a sun deck you know. But that will have to wait until summer for me.

Songfest in Conn. This [sic] weekend and conference next. Glad I've got all my work done, or will have before I leave Friday. It's worth working hard to be able to go away on occassion [sic] with a clear conscience.

Guess that's it for now. Must write a paper on Coriolanius, I didn't know Shakes. wrote so many obscure plays, and The Franklyn's Tale, Chaucer.

Love,
Liz

Will return library book. Did it get renewed?
