Monday
Dear Mom & Dad,
As you can see from his letter, Mr. Shanker's big deal has fallen through. As for being on his regular staff, I want to find out more about it before I spend $15 & two days in New York. We shall see. At any rate, I spent Friday making out work schedules, etc. - generally getting caught up.
Exams were tough - especially philosophy but I did have plenty of time to study & get final papers written for exposition & religion. Mid-Feb - usually Valentine's Day - will tell the final story.
Les came up Friday night & he, a gal from Smith, & I skiied [sic] at Mt. Snow Saturday. Unfornun Unfortunately, it was packed and the third run sown I took a spill & my knee connected with an extremely solid rock. This really cramped my style the rest of the day and by the time I got back to school after sitting through a movie [Anastasia - one of the best I've seen in a long while - Bergman & Helen Hayes] it was swollen twice its normal size & so sore & stiff I could just about walk on it. A visit to the infirmary this A.M. confirmed my suspicion that it was nothing more than a bruise - but quite a bad one. I have an ace bandage on it but still limp painfully along so - of course couldn't ski today. We went to Tinker Hill at Amherst & Les got in a few runs while I sat in the car, strumming my guitar. But it was fun & the Dr said that, although I'll be limping for a few days, it'll clear up in no time. So much for my mid-semester break.
Naturally I'm not at all happy to be starting 2nd semester so soon - but - c'est la vie.
Had a very nice letter from Joyce with pictures of the baby. She sure sounds domestic!
Well - many more letters to write "and miles to go before I sleep" - no - that's R. Frost - ski pants to mend before I sleep - left part of them on that --- rock.
Love,
Liz
