Dear Miss Bailey:

At the same time that I received your reply campers and parents were responding to our announcement of the project. Modt [sic] of them rejected the plan and it is now out for this coming summer. The reason for the rejection was mostly financial ... and there is nothing to do but wait for another summer.

We will continue to try to work out such a project in future summers ... and I'll keep you in mind.

Meanwhile we would be very interested in having a person of your calibre on our regular staff. I believe that we could offer you a [sic] interesting position at Hillcroft ... though our oldest campers are about 15. If you're interested, please let me know .... also let me know whether you will be in on Feb. 1.

Sincerely,
Al Shanker

[Liz's reply is penned below the typed letter by Al Shanker:]

Dear Mr. Shanker,

Naturally I was disappointed that your project for this summer didn't work out.

I am interested in Camp Hillcroft but, before I come to N.Y.C., I'd like to know a little more about the kind of position you could offer me - the age group I would be working with, the salary you could offer, etc.

I shall be waiting to hear from you.

Sincerely,
E.K.B.
