Sunday

Dear Mom & Dad,

Many thanks for the lovely valentine. February 14th sort of crept up on me & I never quite got around to sending any. Tell Tom I enjoyed his too, and I'm awfully proud to be able to carry that picture around in my wallet. Several kids have already asked me who that good-looking guy is.

You'll never guess who I met this weekend. Jim Stekert, Ellen's brother! I went to the O.C. Square Dance Saturday night & asked several people who that nice fellow named Him, who played the guitar so well, was. When we started trading songs & he knew all of Stek's favorites & the same arrangements I began to make some inquiries. He, too, had been wondering who this girl was who seemed to know them all too. It's a small world. He's a senior at Union, after some time at Stanford & a stint for Uncle Sam and a terrific fellow. He bears an uncanny resemblence [sic] to his sister [I guess it's actually the other way 'round as he is older] - not in actual appearance but in mannerisms.

I've still got that blasted bandage on my knee. Seems Dr. #1 doesn't think I should have skiied [sic] on it last weekend after Dr. #2 said - "sure, go ahead, good for it". I do wish they'd get together. Anyway, it's still swollen & the latest verdict is that I might have pulled or strained a ligament. I think she meant one of the ones holding my kneecap where it belongs but she was so evasive - she obviously didn't know. Old maid women doctors can be infuriating!

Got inclosed letter from Camp Hillcroft last week. [no longer with the letter] $400 doesn't sound too bad. If I can stall him off until the middle of April, I shall, as there's a song fest in Bridgewater Conn., very near New Milford, and I could easily combine the two trips. After you read it, can you send it back?

Marks are out but I haven't gotten mine yet - a little matter of bookstore bill for last semester is holding them up. But I should have a Winston check by Wed. or Thurs. which will alleviate that difficulty. Hard to say what they will be - I know I have a B in philosophy - Miss Griffith liked my final exposition paper well enough to submit it to Pegasus, the literary magazine so maybe there's hope for a decent mark in that course after all.

Penny can't make the dance next weekend - he's managing the frosh swimming team & they have two meets then. But says he'd like to come up in March sometime. How is his mother by the way?

Will you send this on to Aunt Hat?

Love,
Liz

P.S. The watch band is here but too tight!
