Dear Mom & Dad,

I seem to be making up, this week, for all the letters I didn't write in the past month. There's a plan laid forth in this one for your permission & approval - or anyway, your perusal.

I received information about a school in Maine, an old boarding school named Kents Hill. It really sounds like the "nuts" [of course, judging from picture brochures, etc, they all are that!] and the headmaster seems to be quite interested in me - expense-paid trip up there, don't worry about lack of education courses, etc. Unfortunately, their spring vacation is the same time as ours so he won't be there when we're at Katahdin.

Seems the place isn't too handy to reach by train or bus [like Norwich] and even a short time up there would involve two days. He suggested driving, which brings me to my idea. If you could spare the old Plymouth for 6 days, I could drive back from Syracuse, surely finding some passengers with all the Syracusans up here, spend a day at Kents Hill [I could probably find someone to go along for the ride] and, since our Senior Ball is that weekend [April 12th & 13th], Charlie, if he can come up for that, could drive said car back to Syracuse. This whole thing sounds wild at first but when looked at critically, is really quite a sound idea. I'm sure the Dean would give me permission to have the car here for a week & I think Charlie would like to come up that weekend if he could drive one way.

I really like the sounds of the school & would like to see it in action - classes as well as extra-curricular - which I couldn't do in the 2 hrs. I could spend there if I went by train.

Let me know your reaction - not the immediate one but your considered one & I'll hold off on writing him until then.

Love,
Liz
