Dear Mom & Dad,
Monday's over & my "mid-week vacation" comes up tomorrow. Actually, it's a vacation from classes so I can work. Monday ismy big class day; Tuesday I have none. Then Wed. & I'm officially on spring vacation.
As things stand, I'll leave here for Boston Thursday evening, meeting Charlie on the bus. Don meets us in B. & we spend the night either at his place or at "Old Joe's" where the song fest was in December. We have a standing invitation to stay there whenever we're in town. Friday A.M. we leave for Maine. As for the party as far as I know definitely, it will be Don, Charlie & I, plus whoever else Don has rounded up. He spoke of a girl from Pembroke's possibly going & I don't know who else. I haven't seen Don in a couple of weeks & the letter I expected from Charlie today didn't arrive. Probably tomorrow. He has a plane reservation on April 3 from Boston so I'll probably be home that evening, if not before.
As for reaching us, we'll be at Chimney Pond campsite, Baxter State Park, [nearest town, Millinocket, Maine] from Sat. March 29th, late evening, until the morning of April 1st, Tuesday. I think the forest ranger lives there all winter, but don't know his name. The nights, Friday Thursday, the 287th and Wed, April 2nd, you could get hold of us through Don Moore's phone, TW4-4279 [Waltham, Mass.] Fri. & Sat, 28th & 29th, and Tues & Wed, 1st & 2nd, we'll be going & coming back. If you want, I can call you from Boston Thursday night & let you know final plans.
As for driving back, I'll leave home the afternoon of the 8th, Tuesday. I'm looking for passengers & finding it not too easy as most people have to return the 7th. I have the Dean's permission to have the car here & have found a gal who'd like to drive up to Maine with me.
Sorry to hear about Carol's coming home. What was the name of the school at which she was teaching?
Had a talk Thursday with the headmistress of a school in Seattle. She seemed quite interested in me but won't know about their situation for a couple of weeks. Sounds like a great school & judging from the two kids here from there, I like what they turn out.
Charlie may be bringing over a pair of skiis. [sic] They're mine. They were taken to Ithaca by mistake - and they don't even vaguely resemble the ones they were mistaken for!
If I could ignore my, as yet, only partially paid bookstore bill, my finances would be fine - but - I wish that gov't check would come. Skiing, even with our relatively cheap trips, is rather expensive. But such fun!
Just realized - you won't get this in time to write back so I'll definitely call you Thursday night.
Love,
Liz
