A Letter Written on Sep 6, 1907

My dear Lucy;

Mr. Waite and I desire to express to you and your sister, our heartfelt sympathy in the loss of your beloved mother. It must be a dreadful shock to you all and our sympathy goes out to your cousin and Uncle Isaac.

It is dreadful to lose a mother, there is no one to fill her place, but we know what is our loss is her gain. Mr. Waite and I regret that we cannot meet you on Saturday afternoon at the last sad service, but it is impossible for him to leave as he is acting Treasurer at the Medford Savings Bank during the absence of that officer, and his presence is imperative as Saturday is the busiest day of the week.

We send you by the first express train Saturday morning, a bunch of roses for the love of your mother, and hope they will reach you in time.

When you feel able to write will you tell me of your mother's illness? Was it a terrible shock without a minute's warning?

Sincerely with loving sympathy to you sisters,
Mary C. Waite.
