Gardner, Mass
June 4, 1903.Dear Lucy,-
I haven't quite forgotten you even though it is nearly a month since you wrote. I suppose you come back soon for the summer vacation.
Perhaps you have heard this. It is Mrs. Clare Brooks now. She was married June 2 at her sister's home in Leominster. She will live on Walnut St.
I went to Worcester May 29. On Saturday afternoon I went over to Elm Park. There are not many flowers there yet but what I did see were lovely. The leaves are so thick on the trees this year that the Normal school is almost out of sight. Mr. Adams, one of the teacher's [sic] there, has resigned but has not said what he intends to do.
There is a fire in Athol and the smoke has drifted here so that we can smell it. The sun has turned red and everything looks yellow. The day is almost as bad as the writing.
I am still sewing and expect to keep it up at least, a month longer.
You have probably hear that Mildred Ames is going to Europe June 18. 1903 took all the prizes in the speaking contest last night.
I hope I shall see you soon and so will close
Your cousin
Elsie A. Lamb.I picked the biggest thought I could find. Guess I get the prettiest too.
