Templeton, Mass.
Oct. 14, 1906.

Dear Sister:-

What is the use of writing much of a letter to-night when I shall see you so soon? I think it would be a waste of time & of course you wouldn't appreciate it. I had a letter postal from Bessie Thurs. saying that she was sick & as I hadn't seen her for two or three weeks, Auntie & I thought we would go down. Lucius came before we started & wanted me to go chestnutting with him but I declined with thanks.

When we got down to Bessie's we found Shortie (I knew he was coming home) and his sister there. We all talked for a while, then Elsie said she must take the four o'clock car home so Bessie, Shortie & I walked over to the station with her. She & Bessie walked the rails & Shortie & I held them on. When we got back to the house we found Mrs. Carpenter & Earle, Mrs. Searles & Guy there. Bessie & Shortie & Guy & I went out into the kitchen & roasted chestnuts & then went to the parlor. Mrs. C- went home earlier but the rest of us started about six. Bessie & Shortie walked up as far as the Searleses with us.

Wasn't that quite a trip? What would Lucius say? Mrs. Searles (mirabile dictu) & Guy came to church this A.M. and Guy & I stood around talking as much as we could while Lucius gazed with a C.O.G. I guess. Maybe he thought he would go home with us but we walked along with Cousin Mary & the children. We had the minister to-day that I said ought to have his hair tied back with a blue ribbon.

Bessie's cousin Etta's wedding is this week. Wed. Bessie is going down. Eddy Bourn is going to be married in Nov. & is going to have Mrs. Searles house for the winter. Ethel Stanley's baby died Fri. The funeral was this morning. Louise Eastman's father & mother are spending Sun. with Frank & Eva. Cousin Elisha & his wife have been down at Cousin Minnie's for a few days. Cousin Minner [?], Cousin May & the baby called Fri. Russell came down from school & stayed with me until they came. Mama says to tell you that unless something happens you won't get a letter from her this week.

I think this is an awfully short letter but I can tell things better. I wore my new coat to-day.

With love,
Molly
