A Letter Written on Aug 4, 1906

Dear Lucy;-

I went over and met Addie and Bertha with the express wagon and got her baggage etc. I thank you and Mary very much for the candy and thought it was very good.

It is raining this morning and thundering too.

Papa and Mamma didn't go to the land concert, last Wednesday, but I went with the Carlton's (our neighbors.) We were going over and give Uncle Fred a surprise party last night but it rained so it was posponed [sic] until to-night if it doesn't rain.

Addie and Bertha have been telling what a nice time they have had. I haven't played croquet since my cousins were here about four weeks ago.

I want to go to the ball game this afternoon but it rains so hard I don't think it will clear off. I have got about sixty eight full-blooded Rhode Island Reds this year. They are growing fast. My pig is growing so that he can hardly walk. I would like to go to Vermont this summer if I could but I have been so busy I don't think I can.

We got our haying done two weeks ago and I am glad of it because it rains about all the time. I think we are having dog days alright.

The Burn's picnic is Wednesday and I think the Sunday School picnic is Thursday. I think I will close now.

Good-bye
from your friend,
Harold E. Fitch.
