[Some paragraph marks added for ease of reading]Templeton, Mass.,
June 10, 1906.Dear Sister:-
If I write to-night (and I am going to because I have something to write about) you may consider yourself fortunate (or unfortunate, as it seems to you) for I don't know as you will get another letter from me until next fall. I suppose Mama reached New Salem safely. It seems rather lonesome without her but I can imagine what you are doing up there. It has been a lovely day until recently & then it began to rain "buckets of water". I was lying on the bed & it began to rain down on my pillow. Wasn't that dreadful?
I presume Mama told you that it was in the paper that Mr. Smith was going to preach at the firemen. Auntie & I debated a little whether we should go to church or not & finally we decided to go. While we were getting ready the band & the firemen from out of town went up. When we got up on the Common to our surprise we found that it was not to the other church they were going at all, at all but to our own. We didn't go up & sit in our pew. We thought it would be a little too much to have all those men looking at us. We had a dandy minister from Marblehead. I shouldn't care to hear him all the time for he had a dreadful voice but he was just the man for such an occasion. Every once in a while he would stick something funny in. He tickled me so in the prayer that I wanted to laugh. He said he hoped the Unitarian Church would make a wise choice for a minister & get a good one. I didn't know then that he wasn't a candidate & wondered whether he wanted the place.
Lucius has been down to-night & I couldn't escape so he thought he would make up for the times he hadn't seen me before & he stayed until half past eight consequently my work is not down. [sic] I went to the ballgame yesterday and Ayer beat us 8 to 7. We thought that we were going to beat them but something was not as it should be so two of our boys didn't get in when we thought they did. Carrie, Miss Wallace & I went to the Junior Play Fri. It was very good but so short. We couldn't believe our ears when they said it was through. I wanted to go to Fitchburg terribly but I couldn't. They all had a dandy time.
It is nine so I must cease writing
With love,
Molly
