Dear Miss Baker:-

I received your letter quite a little time ago and I intended to answer it right away but neglected to.

I have been pretty busy with my work and cares.

I am also sorry that you had to lose your mother. It makes a big difference doesn't it.

I have had to give up the idea of working in the shop as I have all I can do here at home.

I have tried to do the best I could because I think everything of my father and the children.

We are all pretty well and I hope you are the same.

Are you teaching school any where now? I wish I were a school girl back in dear Old New Salem with you for a teacher and friend the same as it used to be.

I am glad you wrote to me and hope you will write again I must close now with much love.

Your Friend
Mary Shaw
