Templeton, May 19, 1906.

Dear Lucy,

I believe I said I would write to you today but I came very near lying telling a lie, for it is about 9-30 and it is not done yet. The reason that I did not write Friday was that I forgot it. I planned all day to write in the evening - then Lucius took it into his head to come home from T.O: with Mary, and stand out at the door and talk, keeping her standing there without her supper for a long time till she was all tired out and made: after she came in she cried and was so troubled that I wanted to wring his neck, or do some other little thing to him. I was so provoked that I forgot all about writing. Carrie says he intended to come home from church with them, but they went another way and got rid of him - and he came to the door tonight but Mary sent him home - I am beginning to think people are right when they say he is not bright.

Carrie went to Leominster Wed. and came home last night. She is going down one day this week again. What hot weather we had. I had to iron Thursday and Friday and cook Sat., so I got the full benefit of it. Hiram actually came last week and cut that old tree - and also that old stump by the Miles's and another apple tree. He has promised to come tomorrow and trim some of the trees. You may not recognize the place when you come home. The machine came to saw the wood yesterday afternoon.

Things have gone slowly with me this week. I hope to begin Mary's dress in a day or two - she is getting in a hurry for the waist so she can sit for her pictures. There is no news that I know of. We have not heard any things from Minnie yet - I think she must have miscalculated. Ihope you will keep better and have no more trouble with your throat. I hear that Mason is surely to be bell-boy at the Inn - and the boy at John Ryan's is to be bell-boy, or that is what the paper says.

I must stop and write more some other time - it is past ten.

Much love,
Mama.
