[Some paragraph marks added for ease of reading]Sunday evening. Oct. 1.
Dear Lucy,
There is nothing to write that I know of but will put just a line with Mary's to let you know that I am still about in spite of my cold. I think it will be better tomorrow, for it is not quite so bad in my head this afternoon. Uncle Isaac is going to Hubbardston tomorrow to pay his taxes if the weather is good. Ben is to carry him, so he will not be gone all day. I hope you are coming Friday - we are looking forward to it.
I have forgotten what I wrote to you Friday, so shall probably tell the same thing over. Fred & Mattie moved last week. I don't know who has their tenement. The recorder says that Mr. Curtis is to have Grace & Jay's tenement. Mr. & Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Pratt went to Boston Tues. morning and came back Wed. night. Lilian Farnsworth has and is, I think, stopping at Ben's - she is going to visit round among her relatives for a little while. I had a letter from Carrie a day or two ago - she has take a trip up the Hudson as far as Newburg, and called it fine. Fred came home last week Mon. night. I must stop and tell you the rest.
Much love
Mama.
