My dear Lucy,
I sent Mrs. Walker the check and last night received a letter from her, thanking us for the generous gift and our kindness in sending it, saying she felt sure we appreciated what she done for Augusta, and wished me to extend to you, her thanks, she wrote a very nice letter, and I think we done the right thing about it.
Grandma is well as usual. I was up there last Wednesday, shall you up tomorrow if it dont [sic] snow. We had our Fair last Thursday and Friday and it was very successful, had a good crowd a nice time and cleared about sixty five dollars, since then I have been trying to get rested, hope you are not snowed in (or up), it snowed quite hard here Sunday, but the snow plough soon made good walking. Shall expect to see you Christmas.
Lovingly yours
