A Letter Written on Mar 6, 1908

South Hadley, Mass.,
Mar. 6, 1908.

Dear Sister:-

As usual there isn't much to write about. I went to the organ recital Wed. P.M. & enjoyed it immensely. The last piece was "Wedding Music & Bridal Chorus" (Lohengrin). Parts of it sounded familiar, strange as it may seem. After the recital one of the Juniors in the house asked me to go to walk. It was nearly six so we could only go a little way but it was lovely out at that time.

Yesterday was the day at Gym. when I hold forth with Miss Spore alone (though there was a girl making up a cut yesterday). After Miss Spore had got told us we might go I asked her if I might practise jumping by myself. She said that she would gladly give me some points so I stayed about ten minutes longer. It is fun to jump.

Miss Matron Smith is sick abed & our table are going to send her some flowers. We think that we had better get back, into good favor with her but she doesn't give us a chance for she very seldom comes to table now.

One of the girls told me that Belle Morril [sic], an '05 girl was visiting here (I think that was the name.) She has been at the Hartford Theological Seminary for three years. I just had a note from Sophie Allen, Bertha Newcomb's room mate inviting me over to her room to-morrrow night to a "sugaring off." Isn't that great?

The Freshmen practised their basket ball songs to-day for the first time. Practise every day now till the games begin. There are two games Wed. two Sat. and two the next Wed. I believe. The songs are awfully good. Wait till I get home & I will make music or otherwise for you.

You remember Harriet Boutelle of course? Well in Student's League Tues., she said that she wished that people would be careful about touching other folk's umbrellas & made quite a speech about it. Since then she has found that Mon. the day before the League meeting she exchanged her room mates' umbrella with some one's. One of the Freshmen had lost hers & advertized for it & Harriet sent for her to see if it was hers. (That is how I know about it.) In the note she wrote Harriet said that the girls were tormenting the life out of her. I think that is a pretty good joke.

We have had quite a snow storm to-day. I do hope it will be pleasant to-morrow for I want to go to walk. My cold has all gone. I have been just simply starving the last few days. I can't get enough to eat anyway. I must stop & do Latin. Pleas thank Auntie for me for the papers. Are you all well? Two weeks from Tuesday! Hooray!

With much love,
Molly.
