A Letter Written on Apr 14, 1908

South Hadley, Mass.,
April 14, 1908.

Dear Sister:-

Roger has come & gone so we really have seen each other again. Carrie thought he had changed, but I don't see as he has much. I think he is a trifle more serious. He needs to train under Miss Couch for I had difficulty in understanding him. He had no particular news. Dwight is coming over to see him Sat. He thought Esther was working pretty hard. He came on the seven o'clock car and went at twenty minutes past nine. Time flew almost as fast as it did the day Carrie was up. There is a professor there at Amherst who is doing some experiments in Physics, taking pictures of electric sparks. He had Roger help him some during vacation and now that college has opened again Roger & another fellow are doing it alone. Isn't that fine?

Sunday P.M. after I had written letters I went over to see Bertha Newcomb & we had a great time talking about Linnies young men. In the evening I read the Llamarada until I fell asleep over it. Now that it wasn't interesting but I was sleepy.

Monday I washed & then studied about all day. Between the end of 4:45 & 5 one of the girls & myself went down into the Botanical Gardens to see what we could find. There was one flower in blossom but I know not what it was. It had a name a mile long. Then we went into the plant houses & wandered through them. There were sweet peas, pansies nasturtiums in blossom among other things. Then we went to a recital given by one of the Seniors, Elizabeth Gleason & a Sophomore, the organist. Elizabeth had a lovely voice & sang just beautifully.

Yesterday Tuesday P.M. There was a class meeting. We elected Miss Couch an honorary member of our class. We chose our class song. Some of the 1907 girls are coming up to the Junior play Wednesday night and are going to have dinner at the Art Nook. We are going down at seven to sing "My heart is with the yellow" to them. Ruth Kneeland a Freshman, went to the hospital yesterday for an operation for appendicitis. Isn't that too bad - right in the middle of her Freshman year.

Margaret & I have decided that in future one of us will brush the room a little every day, she doing it one week & I the next so we will not have to sweep it thoroughly but once a week. Wednesday A.M. I am going out to examine trees for Botany. We have a short paper due on Friday on winter buds.

There doesn't seem to be anything more to write so naturally I will stop. Roger said that Dr. Johnson had met with an accident. If you should happen to see in any paper how Beatrice Lowe is, I wish you would let me know. I hope Cousin Emma & "Willie" are not getting too thick. Tell Uncle that I hope he won't have too hard a time looking afte ryou two giddy people. How are provisions holding out?

With much love,
Molly.
