[Some paragraph breaks added for ease of reading. The date is estimated by another letter in the same envelope that is dated Nov 16, 1902.]Dear Lucy:-
I am in an awful hurry as usual but you must count that last long one as two. Linnie and Gene have come out all right and Linnie is quite happy. Yesterday Mabel T. asked me to go to ride with her. We went up the Athol road for
oquite a piece. When we turned around the horse went as if he had been shot out of a cannon.Yesterday Auntie and I went up on Dolbier. We found Aunt Ada and Uncle Warren and the Wheelers up there. They missed the four o clock car home and the females came down here and waited, while the men, Uncle Warren and Mr. Wheeler, went over to Mr. S.'s greenhouse. Afterwards they came in for about three minutes. Then we found Mrs. Morse and her four boys and Charlie Scolley up there. So you see it was quite a day for Dolbier.
We had a Latin Exam. Friday. and are going to have a History one to-morrow. It is teacher visiting-day so there is no school to-day. Mrs. T. said she supposed you went counting the hours for now until Thanksgiving. Are you?
With love,
Mary
