Milford, N.H.
May 20, 1906.My dear Lucy:-
This afternoon I will try to answer your letter, which you wrote a long while ago. A number of times I have thought of writing but something would happen that I didn't.
There are five weeks more of school for the High and four for the Grammer. [sic] It doesn't seem long since school commenced in the fall and now school is almost done for the long summer vacation.
The schools are getting ready now for the exercises, which the school children have in the town hall the day before Memorial.
There are only twenty-nine in my class now as three scholars have moved away since school began. We have a new drawing and music teacher this term. Her name is Miss Long but she is real short. The seniors are not going to have a reception when they graduate as they took a trip to Washington in the Spring vacation so they are going to have the exercises in the evening. They generally have the exercises in the afternoon and the reception in the evening.
I didn't go may-flowering only twice this year and I didn't find near as many as other years.
It has been real warm this last week and Wednesday and Thursday there were thunder showers.
How are you getting along with your school now? I suppose you will be glad when it closes.
There is an Alumnae meeting at Nashua. Addie thinks of going so she thought she would write to you later and tell you about it if she goes.
We all send love to you and hope you will visit us this summer[.]
Your friend,
Bertha.
