Templeton, Mass.,
Aug. 4, 1907.Dear "Kid":-
I don't know as there is much to write & still I don't know but that there is. I picked over a mess of raspberries Wednesday and Mama and I made jelly the rest of the week. We have five glasses of raspberry and six rhubarb. The rhubarb is just handsome.
Friday morning when I had planned how much I would do, Grace came & asked me to drive to Athol with her. Of course I accepted & had a delightful ride. We came home through Brooks village. I got home at three and went to L.A.H at four. We are going to sell tickets for the concert beforehand and I am going over to Otter River to-morrow P.M. I also have the Hubbardston road but that is nothing great. Harry Stanley has begun work in the chapel - painting and fixing up - so we have got to go into the Town Hall and I am so afraid we will get lost. Think of our little fair in that great Town Hall. I went down to see Mrs. Moore & got a dollar. Then I tacked Mr. Roundy et Mirabile dictu I got a quarter. We are going up into the hall t-morrow A.M. to see where we will put our tables and Elsa is going to do our carpenter work then.
The concert Friday night was real good. Cousin Bessie was not satisfied with her readings but her audience was. The quartet gave as one encore "Little Jack Horner" with variations I think for it told how the tom-cat stole the pie. "Fritz" is here but he looks think. Grieving for Ruth? The Lindseys are coming the first of this week I think.
Auntie & I went down to Cousin Minnie's Wed. night. The boys had been upon the old farm and didn't get home till about eight. The baby grows like everything. She is trying to pull herself up. Cousin Emma was going to Sarah Watson's yesterday to stay a few days. We have invited her up to supper Wed. night & are going to ask Cousin Bessie as she wants to come both afternoon and evening.
Mrs. Skerrye has gone away visiting her sister so Mr. Skerrye & the boys are keeping house. Mr. Skerrye went home between church and Sunday School, probably to start dinner. He wants to go to Lancaster Wed. to that ordination service but there is no one to look after the boys. If it was only some other days Mrs. Greenwood could and maybe she will anyway. Mr. Knowles is coming Tues. night so she will have him to entertain Wed. Miss Mary Stone asked Mr. Skerrye what the boys would do if he left them alone. He said that they would probably have the carpets up and the piano down cellar. Tell Bertha that I will try and send my likeness along soon. Be sure & come home to be weighted to-morow [sic] night & then go back.
With love,
From the other "Kid"P.S. Mama says that she thought you were coming so soon that she wouldn't write. She has been to Athol, Orange, Baldwinville, and Gardner and needs rest. Roger Johnson up here has pneumonia and I think is considerably sick. Mama & Auntie both send their love. Uncle acts as if he felt better the last day or two.
