Templeton, Mass.,
March 8, 1907.Dear Sister:-
I suppose that you will look for a letter to-morrow night but as I write for both myself and Mama, the news seems to give out. There doesn't seem to be much change in Mama, the Doctor says. Probably in a day or two she will begin to gain. She hasn't sat up at all since Sunday but the last day or two she has seemed more interested in things than before. Uncle's cold is getting better. Auntie was about sick the first of the week but don't you dare mention it in your letters for of course Mama don't know it. She had a touch of the grippe the Doctor said, only in a different form. She is beginning to eat a little now and feels better. I should think that my cold was entirely well only I have a fit of coughing occasionally.
There is a lot of scarlet fever in Gardner. I hear of new cases every day. One girl has had it very lightly. She was at school Mon. but wasn't Tues. The Doctors have decided that she had had it about a week before she stopped for she was peeling Mon. The room in which she sits was fumigated yesterday afternoon but they waited so long I should think that the whole school stood a chance to take it.
I begun my shadow embroidery sofa-pillow a week ago Thurs. when Ruth was up. She was struck with it and thought she would like to make one for a friend who is to be married in April so we got Bessie to get her one. Eva has rather wanted one & so unless something happens Ruth & I are going to take our work and go over there to-morrow P.M. Ruth has got Frank & Eva all "hesitated up" about the something she is going to have so we expect to have some fun to-morrow.
Grace Stanley has been having a time with her tooth. Her cold settled in it. She went out to-day for the first time for over a week. Mrs. Fred Stone has had a touch of the grippe. She is getting better now. I see Elmer almost every day up at the window. He is looking fine.
I heard Mrs. Blodgett telling James Hawkes that it was so warm in Texas Sunday that Miss Blodgett sat out on the piazza with no wraps on. She said that she had sent for some summer hats and thin things. It will be quite a change, won't it, when she gets back to Templeton!
I can't keep awake much longer so I will stop.
With love,
From Molly.
