A Letter Written on Apr 2, 1907

Templeton, Mass.
April 2. 1907.

Dear Lucy:-

Although to-day is April 2 I think it is a great deal more like March. I suppose you never get any breezes up in New Salem. I hardly dared to write yesterday because you might think my letter did not mean what I wrote.

I am still nursing my neuralagia [sic]. Have been haveing [sic] an attack since last Friday night. The 11th at 9.A.M. I visit the dentist. He gave me a most gruesome slip of paper, decorated with two long rows of teeth. It has made me feel so happy ever since that I have carried it in my pocket book.

To-night is the Union. It is an "advertisement party." Also I am to play in between the tableaux which reperesent represent well-known advertisements. The audience are supposed to guess the articles advertised.

I am making a custard pie. I hope the crust will not tumble into the custard. It has a pleasent [sic] say of doing those king of things.

The 13th is Delphine's birthday[.] She will be four years old. Her papa is going to give her a black-board. and I am going to give her a post-cards album. She is very much interested in the pictures on post cards and has a few which she thinks a great deal of.

That was a very dainty card you sent me at Easter. Thanks very much.

The fire-man's ball comes the 19th. They are going to have the same orchestra as they had last year. There is to no be be no supper but ice-cream and cake is to be on sale. I do not think that I shall go, as I want to go to Whalon, later on, so shall save my money for that.

I am, as usual, busy sewing. Delphine has got to have a new coat this spring. I think I shall get something is [sic] a small check to make it up.

The cars are unmoving almost anytime. Just now they are very nearly an hour late.

I see by one of the papers that Beulah Manning is going to enter a millinery store this spring.

The next club meeting is to be with Mrs. Wright. Prof. Lucas Lee Baker is going to talk upon "Nature." I think that will be quite interesting. I think I shall go.

We have new neighbors upon the Coy farm. They have bought the place. A Mr. Ryan of Athol. He is a Polander. Well educated and owns property in Russia. He has been here for quite a long while.

Hope to hear from you when you have time to write. I presume you still continue to be busy.

With love,
Edie.
