My dear Lucy -I had been thinking of you the day we received your card and Mary's. It was so nice of you to send the cards.
We have, of course, done many things in the last four weeks. We have bought a horse and two cows and a little heifer, and some hens. We are staying on the hill all the time, 'most. It is so much pleasanter up here. The neighbors say we might as well let our house.
We have no cherries this year, which is quite unprecedented and hardly any fruit of any kind. We have a garden where I spend every spare minute.
Walter did not come. He sailed sooner than he intended to so he could not come. He is in Scotland visiting friends and is going to Cambridge for the summer school.
My friend, Mrs. Daniels, came the Friday after we got home. She stayed at the hotel and was here three weeks instead of one. Of course we were very glad to have her here so long.
We were very fortunate to get a horse which is absolutely safe. We have met two auto-mobiles and she doesn't care at all.
Can you and Mary come to Grafton two weeks from next Monday? If that isn't a convenient time the next week would be all right for us. You will have to change at Greenfield and probably wait an hour or two. You will get off at Bellows Falls, and take the car for Saxton's River. The car comes down to the station and there is no other car so you can't make a mistake. We will meet you at Saxton's River.
I will have to close my letter suddenly as the people have come for supper.
Please remember me to all the household.
Lovingly yours,
Ethel Cambridge.Dorothy sends her love.
Wednesday night.
