MassMy dear Lucy
Your card received today it was missent by the Post-mark it went to Maine I was so glad to hear from you and to be near the ocean see the waves & hear it roar I think it is fine I do not like to ride on it as well as a good many - I should think by the card you could see a long distance which lends enchantment to the view I hope you are beginning to get rested a little we are having a little rain today hope we shall get more before it is over our garden has fainted away for want of water cucumbers I do not think will rally at all -
Pole-beans and Corn I hope we may have some more our squashes were a failure we have had five ripe tomatoes expect this rain will save them & we shall have quite a good many -
Mary was down last week she is busy getting ready she seemed pleased that a girl from Gardner was going with her as that would be better than some of the family because they would have to leave after a little - Matie Bulkeley called on us as she drove over from Ashburnham took a friend of hers from Beverly with her they took dinner at Templeton Inn went over to the Public Library and stood on the steps they thought the Common was fine so many beautiful trees and so many pretty houses the stately looking parsonage with its pillars in front she just enjoyed it all and she enjoys driving very much
Mother is about as usual Warren & Ada are all right I saw Warren this morning Cora Wheeler is improving but cannot work much yet which is a great trial to her Dorothy (3 yrs old) says when she is a big girl she will do all the work because her mother is sick you must take in all the good you can shall hope to see you refreshed when you return we shall be glad to see you with love from us both to you & Miss Lord I close -
Your Aunt Mattie
