Sept. 24, 1902.Dear Lucy:-
If my lessons suffer to-morrow you will be the inocent [sic] cause. However I think there is little danger as I have two study periods the first thing. They have changed Wednesday and Friday around so that all my appointments at Dr. Jewett's come wrong. I rode down with Linnie yesterday morning. The ride was lovely but it was terribly damp. When we got most to the station two dogs came out and chased us for a long way. Linnie shook the whip at them and at last told them to go home and they stopped. Coming home one of them and a black one came out but we sent them home.
We have a cute drawing room. We have desks with five drawers in them. Four pupils sit at the desk at different times and each has a drawer. The fifth one is for all of us. We each had to pay ten cents for a key to the drawer we have so we can keep our possessions locked up. We didn't draw anything but had to practice making envelopes to keep our drawings in. Montague and Tandy are the only boys in the class. Montague has gone into our English. I guess he will be back in everything pretty soon. We did nothing but sing hymns in music Tuesday.
Mama says to tell you that she don't think the sofa-pillows as done as nicely as you would do it but you have her permission to do it over again. And also to use that pillow for the one that it fits the best.
Levi is flourishing I guess. He had no Latin lesson and not much history. I am reading Doris and Theodora when I get time. It is lovely but is a big book and I have no spare time. Do you feel any bigger than you did? Or isn't twenty much older than nineteen. It is after eight and I must close.

P.S. Kit is asleep on Auntie's bed He is quite happy but rather lonesome now that both of us are gone. Have you seen anything more of that cat? Those that don't take music at school have mental arithmetic. Goodbye Mary
