A Letter Written on Jan 8, 1903

Templeton, Jan. 8, 1903.

Dear Lucy,

I will write a few lines to let you know I reached home safely. I had to wait a few minutes for my car but not long - and I found everything all right at home, except that the house seemed empty. I thought you might like your list before next week, and we found a collar left behind, so will send them. Carrie had a letter from Fred saying he is coming to Boston to see about a position there, and that they may come there to live: if they do he will come on and be there for some time earlier than his mother. That may result in Carrie's going to Philadelphia sooner than she had planned, as Lizzie will be alone. All of this is uncertain. I planned to send this to the office by Mary, but the car has just gone up and no Mary. I hope you were not sick the remainder of the way and that you are better in other respects. Did you find Helen?

A man from Hubbardston has just looked over my timber but would not offer more than $2500, so I did not sell. I must close and do the dishes. I hope to hear from you tonight - Much love

from
Mama.

Carrie says tell you the cider misses you. How was the jelly?
