Jan 18. 1903Dear Lucy
I did intend to write you ere this but did not get about it there seems to be a good many things to do and first I know the time is gone -
Mother is a good deal better but still takes her meals in her room but hope she will soon take them at the table which will make quite a difference I have not seen any of your family since you left I am "Right here" the same as you when you had your first picture taken I have yours in the frame you brought Christmas and have it on the table where we can see it daily -
We have so many cloudy days I feel as if it was night most of the time I hear there are parties talking of taking the store that the Sargeant Bros. occupied I hope they will -
Thurber is about moving down to his mother's as she is all alone he works on the Electrics Conductor I think and he will make a good one as he is pleasant agreeable & accommodating I enclose a Christmas gift [no longer with the letter] though rather late I shall hope to hear from you soon with much love from us both - I remain -
Yours lovingly
Aunt Mattie
