A Letter Written on Dec 14, 1902

Dear Lucy:-

There is not a thing to write. It has snowed and snowed and snowed. I've got the worst cold imagnible. [sic] I made some taffy to cure it and its so soft you need a spoon to eat it. What are we going to get Mama for Christmas? She says she wants a million dollars but I don't believe we had better try to get it. I thought of something long ago but have gone and forgotten it. You must hunt around in Holyoke for something I don't know what. What are we going to get Auntie? Mama is going to get her some worsted slippers. Did we give "Tom Brown's Schooldays" to Arthur last year? I am reading that now. Last Tuesday we got sent home from school at noon because it was so cold and Wednesday Mr. Osbourne sent the "Templetonians" home for fear the cards couldn't keep running. There was a picture of the Gardner High School Foot Ball Team in the Sunday Globe to-day. I am going to cut it out and save it. I must close.

With love,
Mary
