A Letter Written around Feb 8, 1903

Dear Lucy:-

There isn't much to tell only that Linnie and I have had a fight and got all over it. We girls have been plaguing Linnie a good deal about Gene and one noon Bertha and Linnie were getting a drink and we went over & asked Linnie if she didn't want us to hunt "him" up so she could see him but she said we needn't. Bertha got her drink & went off. Linnie got her drink & Gene appeared around the corner as if all was run by machinery. Friday he walked up from the laundry with her & then went in to get his books. I walked with them that time but when she waited for him to get his books we all walked along. Hazel said that Linnie said she was going to bluff us. But she was rather cool. Yesterday she wanted me to go to ride with her. We went to Gardner & walked a little piece this side of Mr. Lily's. (We went the south road.) We thought we would go up that road just before we get to the station road & walked all the way up the hill. We hitched the horse & went to Town & Whitney's. We waited for a train to switch both ways. When we came by the Y.M.C.A. she wanted to see Gene & he came down West after us. Went home W. Gardner Road & didn't find a [...].
