Templeton, Feb. 3, 1904.Dear Lucy,
I will write just a few lines to tell you what I presume you have already heard. Your Aunt Augusta died last night about five o'clock. Ada got word in the forenoon that she was failing and not likely to live through the day and she sent word to Warren and he came home, and both went to Holden on the 12-48 train, but she was not conscious and did not recognize them at all. Warren came up this morning and told me - he said your aunt did not suffer at all, just stopped breathing.
The funeral is Friday, at 10-30, in Holden, and she is to be placed in the receiving tomb there till Spring when she will be brought to T-n. They at first planned to bring her Friday, but the roads are so bad and the weather uncertain that they decided not. I suppose you will not try to go, considering, roads, weather and everything - I shall try to go if the weather is suitable, but if it is bad shall not attempt it. I will send a card Ada sent one: you see we were planning to go to her to-day. I must stop now.
Much love
Mama.
