Templeton, Feb. 9, 1906.

Dear Lucy,

Mary told us tonight that she was worrying for fear you had blown off that hill today as you were going to school. Did you? What a day it has been and now it is nice and pleasant. Mary did not go to school it was so bad - she could have got there I think, but we did not know as she could get home, and it would be so bad getting there that she decided not to start. Bessie came down here but finally went back home. I should not have thought her mother would have let her start if she had any idea what the weather was. The Glee Club concert was to be tonight and Mary planned to stay with Carrie Wright and go. Bessie was to be one of the ushers. I should think it would have been postponed before it cleared off.

The cars have run quite often this afternoon. I don't know whether they got through to Athol or not. Carrie started for Boston about 12-30 - she may be on the way yet, but I think she is there - they were going to the theater this evening, so of course she was anxious to go. she got ready and waited for a car - we did not know there was one up Athol way and were expecting it to come from Gardner. I was eating my dinner when she called to me (she was upstairs) to stop the car and I rushed out and got to the end of the piazza as the car got opposite the house, but I waved and screamed and they saw me and managed to stop when nearly down to George Henry's. Uncle & I took the trunk and got as far as the gate and a man came and helped him and I went back, well cooled off - but she and her trunk went. She expects to be gone two weeks at least, and will go to N.Y. soon after she comes back from Boston.

Lizzie & Fred are planning to move to Hartford but not for a little time - I hardly think they will move till after his six months of trial are over. Carrie went over to inquire for Mrs. Greenwood last night and send her up some flowers - she is getting along all right, but the Dr. said she would have to be patient so I take it, it will be some time before she is strong again. Blanche Cox is dead - she died yesterday morning. Mary says Harry Farrington looks badly - he has helped take care of her nights. Carrie said Alice Pratt had on a gold locket at the Union Tues. night and she has heard since it was one Ralph gave her. I don't believe but she will marry him.

Carrie & Mary went to the Union, and Tues. afternoon Mary went to see the play 'Little Lord Fauntleroy' with Lucius and Dorothy - Mary went with them in West Gardner - she thought it was great. Have you found out yet if you can have Friday after the 22nd? If you can't have that, and want to , I will try to meet you at Athol next Sat. weather and cars permitting. To be sure we are to have L.A.H. here but I have nothing to do with that and shall not stay at home if I want to go away. The Wellington club meets at Mrs. Parker's Friday so I suppose I shall have to go - and Mary plans to go to the military ball Friday night and will not get home till towards noon Sat but if I know soon enough I think I can do it.

Ben drove in with his scraper and made a path for us today. Wasn't he good. Edith is down here but the children are at her father's - she told Carrie that she was so tired out that she had to have a rest - but how about Mrs. B- with all her work. Do you suppose that is the reason?

I must stop & go to bed. I hope the boy gor your wood in before this storm.

Much love,
Mama.
