Mount Holyoke October 9, 1937
Motherly dearest -
Just received a nice letter from Dad, but since he's probably on Chebeague, this is addressed to you -.
Will you fill in blanks on this dingus - in pencil please and return at your early convenience! It needs signatures and stuff which you as my secretary should attend to in your usual efficient manner.
This coming Saturday Minette's boyfriend may drive her and me to Boston to get his sister and bring her back to visit Minette over Sunday. So - she and I may drop in for an hour. In fact I think it would be nice for the four of us to eat lunch with you and Carol at one o'clock. This is rather brassy - and if you can't or don't wish to do same, we'll understand but with all this warning - !! If we aren't coming, I'll drop you a post card. I'd love to stay over Sunday but that would involve cutting choir, which I'd better not do so early in the season.
Thursday was Mountain Day and Minette, Helen and I just wandered over the country from here to Granby, not straining ourselves, but covering plenty of ground. Thursday night I went dancing with Reitz's Frank from Amherst who is coming over tonight, too. Last night Arthur took me to the movies, and invited me to the Mass. State game and dance today - which darn it! I had to refuse. Hope you meet him in Newton sometime, mother. I feel sure you'd approve, and even Ross thinks he's a nice lad.
Apparently I haven't had to study hard, so I am having a good time while the opportunity presents itself. Wednesday night the Dance Club is presenting Tamiris and her group of dancers, which I must see - for fifty cents. And Minette and I are hoping to see Ted Shawn this month in Springfield - in the cheapest seats. My money is almost gone, except for the extra check, but NYA is to be paid soon. I'm not planning on the concert series this year, partly because there's no one coming that really interests me, partly because last year there were always extra tickets, and mostly because of my bank account.
Must get at a religion paper now. Think about Saturday - and tell me - soon please - your ideas. And about Thanksgiving.
Love,
Barb.
