A Letter Written on Dec 13, 1937

Dec. 13 - 37

Mother dear -

Work is piled high over my ears - but this is just a note. What will you say about New York? I sort of expected a reply to my last letter - expressing approval or the opposite - but nothing!

The Ball with Arthur was very nice but I wish he danced better. Anyway we are planning on an Θχ (Θ = Theta, Χ = Chi) Dance the 28th of December - informal at the Hotel Brunswick in Boston.

Last night we repeated our carols here at school - and the Evertses and Bosses were here. Wish you could have heard it, Marmee.

Yesterday was Jimmy's birthday - so instead of giving her many small things we sat together and bought a lovely angora sweater for the house president. And she liked it -.

Mrs. Eckard has a small Terrier name of Duchess - who is yet rather crude about her personal habits. But she's a nice dorg. [sic] The part I object to is her being in the dining room at meals. Tsk Tsk.

Must study like ... now. I have seven dollars and will have the money from Glee Club, but if you think (as I do) that it would be well to have a check with me - how wonderful! I'll be home the 20th, I think!

Love,
Barb -
