A Letter written on Jan 26, 1897

Mt. Holyoke College,
So. Hadley, Mass.
Jan 26, 1897.

Dear Exits,

It is Tuesday evening and twenty minutes after eight so you see your letter isn't much ahead of time. Since supper I have been meditating, talking with Agnes Bemis and popping corn. Must get of[f] an order for four or five thousand envelopes. It is nearly time for the orders for the books of the second semester to be ordered.

Things keep lively most of the time. Miss Worden has been away since last Wednesday she comes back next week I believe. Kath. Shearer has sprained her ankle so we have a pair of crutches in the house. Her roommate is writing a class song[.] Miss R. is at the library writing a Theisin [?] essay. Got my $12.00 today. Guess I'll get my teeth put in order if some extra time should turn up. Cold weather for building and digging foundations. We haven't frozen up yet.

There comes an urgent appeal for me to join the summer school and help them look out for things[.] They offer me $100. for the time. Would you consider the offer? They seem to think I am competent to fill the bill[.] I cant say. What is your opinion. I am afraid the committee are prejudiced in their opinion of myself.

Thursday. Dr. Goodspeed is to speak rather than Dr. Webb. At two we have the Y.W.C.A meeting where letters will be read from other societies and a Wellsley [sic] & a Smith delegate also Lydia Sanderson will speak. This together with class meetings & teachers meeting fill the program. Sleighing up here. Dont you wish you had snow.

Miss R. is in front of her shrine, that is the cat's chair; or the chair belonging to the "fat sunbeam"

Good Bye -

S. A. Bliss
