A Letter written on Jan 29, 1897

Dear Exits,

Well you can have a sleigh ride now can't you. We thought yesterday that we were in for a blizzard. I had to go to the office in the morning to get some checks off and to send to Holyoke for some blank books so had a little taste of the snow. It was to my knees by ten oclock[.] The snow plow was running all day but the meetings were given up. Dr Goodspeed got as far as Holyoke then started back.

In the afternoon I shoveled snow a little while but it wasnt much use. This morning all the men on the plantation are shoveling. Why dont you make a snow plow. Easy enough clear off Exeter hill in fifteen minutes. [sketch of A-shaped snow plow here]

At present I am in the studio only two or three have turned out to draw. Are those bulbs alive it is time they were at least six inches high.

[...] is scarce

Wonder if the professor got to Exeter. Guess there wnt be a very big audience if he did. Expect a letter from you people today or tomorrow.

If convenient will you send a little black serge as I want to do some darning. Also I would like a little of your black knitting silk that you began some [...]sters with.

Two days [...] [remain?] in January you may like to know. Have spent some over $13[.]00 in the stationery this year since the fire. You see there is no excitement this way except the snow.

Good Bye -

S. A. Bliss
