An Undated Letter written on Sunday

Mt Holyoke College,
So. Hadley, Mass.
Sunday A.M.

Dear Folks,

It occurred to me this morning that I only wrote one letter to you last week.

I am getting sick of writing letters that never reach you or if they do your letters don't get read as I see you know nothing whatever about the longest ones I write.

This morning as usual we had hash and johnny cake and the amount I stored away was simply amazing. Mrs. Purington is here visiting Florence. I suppose she came yesterday I have only seen her at a distance. Of course I don't remember how she used to look so I don't know whether she has changed or not. I hear that Sam Small is to preach this afternoon in the church.

We have for Bible lesson this week Gen. XI to XXV chapters and draw a map of Abraham's journeyings also some reading in "Geinies Mrs. with the Bible."

Yesterday Dr gave us Fresh. a talk on "Take care of yourself" as a sort of help to carrying out the request that all the girls get when they go to school.

The princile thing seemed to be take a sponge cold bath each morning.

Another thing which seens [sic] to follow me up here was hitch your skirts to your underwaist which thing I can't find time to do as we have to make button holes in every skirt and sew on buttons to our undercloathes. [sic] Dr. said she couldn't condemn those shoulder straps (which you wear) enough as there was a tissue up there on your shoulder which should expand every time you breathe and it couldn't if held down by those things this tissue is connected with the lungs. So I came out ahead on that.

This eve were told to put on something on our heads around our shoulders and on our feet in the shape of rubbers when we go out walking.

Everybody likes her. She sits down on the girls sometimes terrible flat too, but they like her just the same.

Monday A.M. I wonder if any Blisses will appear hear [sic] today. I guess if they got up and started this morning they were in a warm missionary spirit.

What do you think? Sarah and I went to bed early last night about half hour early I think and when I had my night dress on and shoes on and hair braided we heard a knock (Sarah was in bed) and in walked Miss Purington she looked slightly embarrassed and she said she only called to see if I would call and see her mother before she went she is going home Tuesday.

Every chair was full and we looked almost abed. We had a big laugh when she was out of here. I went and heard Sam. Small yesterday I have heard speakers whom I liked better.

Well I can't spend more time now.

Good Bye,
M. A. Bliss.

Yes Miss Holmes asked after your health. I tried another exam on History last Wednesday and passed so I am done with that.

Helen Keith sent her spects to you.

The missionary Mrs Harding who used to be Miss Valentine [sic] was here and spoke to us last week. Beth Fairbanks Aunt
