Home. Mon evening
Week before Thanksgiving 1895.My dear Seffie Annie,
Had quite a big washing today trying to get things washed up for next week. Alice is ciphering out loud while she is doing a long example in fractions & it is a little confusing to my cracked brain - I have been writing to the Prof no to Charley I mean, hope to see him next week - It brightens us up considerably - Next week now, the big wedding comes off - You had an invitation included in the Rev & family - they meant it so I'm sure. Jennie wanted to know if Henry understood that he was invited? He says he was & she wanted he shd. come. O dear wheel-work I have trying to write letters[.] It is Tues. morning now & breakfast is ready & it is quarter past 8. Alice has been putting up dinner. 3 slices of bread a custard cup of quince sauce a piece of pie a piece of cake &c. She has put up one for the minister too[.] He is going to Waterbury to General Conference with Dea Spafard [?] this morning. It is wet with a heavy mist every where - Guess his $20 ticket will be gone before he stops traveling. He is vaster [sic] extravagant to my mind for poor folks. Guess I have saved 5.00 doing hard work I don't feel just right sometimes I work for grand clothes a few of them & he spends just as he feels like it. I supose this sounds bad, but we are getting towards the time when the salary will stop & then! we may die - Breakfast is ready. A heaping basket of clothes to sew under the stable.
