South Hadley Nov 21, 1850My dear Mother
I wish we knew whether you were ever coming to see us. If you are not on your way, or going to start immediately, write as soon as you receive this. Do let us either see you, or hear from you by Monday-night. Miss Chapin asked me why I didn't write and invite you to Thanksgiving. We are to have a wedding here Thanksgiving evening. Mrs. Reed, Mr. Hawks daughter, is to be married to Dr Putnam of New York. Susie is very desirous to have me go home with her, and she says she wants to write to her Mother whether I am coming. I should like to go very much but do not know as it would be best. I don't want to stay here one bit, for I shall have the same care and anxiety as in school-time. Mrs. Condit has got [...] for you several times, baked up the mince pies, all so nice and I am in hopes you will be here by to-morrow to get one of them. Besides we want the trimmings to our bonnets before Sunday. We sent them down to Springfield Wednesday, & had them lined and certainly they look very nice. We are in a great hurry for we [...] things and I do hope you have started before this reaches Newburyport.
We had a short call to-day from Mr. Stone & lady. If I do not you to Hartford I guess we shall go to see them during Thanksgiving week. I cannot stop to write more, so must bid you good night

MaryI wish you would ask Dr. Cross what I shall do for the face-ache for I have taken one dozen of those pills and they have not cured it. I have not had it at all till within a week.
