South Hadley Jan 2. 1848Dear father
I write in a great hurry, this morning for I think I can delay it no longer. We need some money to pay our wood bill, as soon as you can send it, we shall also need some to pay our expenses here, but for the wood please send it the very first opportunity. I ought to have sent for it in our last letter, but did not think of it, till it was too late. I shall have time to write no more now, as it is almost time for the mail to go.
We wish you both "a happy new year".
Good by. Yours aff.
Mary.
