Yes, your photograph was very acceptable to me. When your letter was handed to me last night I could not imagine who it was from, after the maner [sic] of the reception of all unexpected letters I sat and studied the post mark and the direction, at last after coming to no satisfactory decision I opened the envelope and was quite gladly suprised [sic] by finding your photograph enclosed. I knew it instantly for I I [sic] could trace in it a strong resemblance to my friend of five years ago. I would willingly return you one of mine but at present I have none of myself. There is an artist here at South Hadley but he having failed some three or four times in taking a picture with any kind of a resemblance to me I feel rather suspicious of his powers as a photographist.
I will give you the promise however of sending you one as soon as I have any good ones taken. With many thanks for your picture I remain
Your friend
Hattie M Hubbard.
