A Letter Written on Mar 20, 1915

My darling Fran:

You poor neglected Girlie, I feel like a cad for not having written you more often this week but it has been a mighty busy one for me. In the office every morning by eight thirty and hustling every minute until nearly seven practically every night. This afternoon too I was there until four helping to sign about 4000 circular letters, and then had to go to the barber's to get all dolled up for tonight, and now we are going to have an early supper so I don't know how much of this letter I can write.

It is going to be a big affair to night. Besides the family, Mama, Papa, Fannie and Hannie, Ritta Burns, Mathilda Boos, our neighbors the two Misses Marsh, Jim Conaly's sister and brother and Obrieght will be with us. Oh that's not even all. Bill Handy's mother and friend will also be there. But the only person that I wish was going to be there, can not be there. If you only were, if you only could!! The show was rehearsed Sunday, Tuesday, & Thursday and a dress rehearsal last night. Two acts are played in a garden, and the last act stages a garden party at night. We have gotten light little electric lights and have put small japanese lanterns over them, and have strung them over a garden wall and in an arber. [sic] It looks mighty pretty. Every one knows their his part pretty well and I as promptor [sic] will not have much to do I'm sure.

Must quit and hustle now.

Oh, if you were only here. Next week it will be different. I love you Sweetheart. Come as soon as you can.

Forever thine,
Ernst
